A Series of Vibrant Cultural Tours in Thonburi
Set along the western banks of the mighty Chao Phraya, Bangkok’s Thonburi district – where The Peninsula Bangkok is located – is home to many of the city’s most famous and magnificent landmarks. These include ancient temples, palaces, and shrines that represent the historic grandeur of the Thai kingdom, and also trendy arts hubs and multicultural attractions that exemplify the modern-day vibrancy of the city.
The Peninsula Bangkok invites all guests to learn about, and explore, these places of interest with our series of complimentary, guided tours through the gems of Thonburi. Guests who partake in these tours will come away with a greater understanding and appreciation of Thai culture.
The tour takes places every Wednesday and Saturday. Starting from January - December 2025

King Taksin the Great, also known as the King of Thonburi, ruled Thailand between 1767 and 1782. During his reign, he so greatly impacted the country’s prosperity – by facilitating trade and foreign relations, building roads and temples, and promoting education and the arts – that his legacy is still honoured today. King Taksin’s enduring influence can be seen at many notable landmarks in Thonburi – the district where The Peninsula Bangkok makes its home.
