Admittedly, it's hard to leave the confines of The Peninsula with its 5-star breakfast of champions, but if you need to eat on the hop, Bangkok is home to a bonanza of early morning cafes and coffee shops. Head this way for some of our favourite breakfasts in Bangkok.
Sarnies
Drawing Bangkok’s hipster contingent with its stylish atmos and food, this Singapore import is a mere hop across the river. For a full-on hit of the Charoen Krung buzz, choose a pew by one of the 150-year-old shophouse’s big windows (there’s even sidewalk seating for the brave), or if a delicate constitution requires a peaceful corner, nip up to the zen second floor to enjoy craft coffee and an absolute killer bacon-n-egg sarnie.
Rocket
Serious coffee aficionados need look no further than Sathorn stalwart Rocket, which pairs killer artisan-roasted joe with all manner of early-bird indulgence. Food has a Scandi bent to match its Scandi light-filled – hearty appetites can devour the meaty Viking breakfast plate with roast potatoes, while lighter bites include iced berries, Swedish beets and apple, and gravlax open-sandwiches. Rye and wheat-based pastries are baked inhouse, and eggs herald from the hill tribes. Book ahead on weekends.

Like to browse before you commit to a brekkie? Two-storey multi-concept crib Siri House offers a mouth-watering array of foodie pit stops. Luka, in particular, is popular with the brunch crew for its killer mimosas, and Western comfort fare as well as left-field offerings like breakfast burrito and clam chowder.
Garden Gallery & Café
Take leave of the city bustle at the greenhouse-esque Garden Gallery & Café. This leafy all-white enclave idyllically placed in the verdant grounds of the historic Neilson Hays Library features art-lined walls, alfresco terrace, and sinful breakfast staples, like brioche toast slathered in strawberries and cream, or the full English caboodle.
