On Sunday mornings, I like to take my three year-old twins to the Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market, a weekly institution in this city. Vendors from all over Southern California set up booths on the street behind the Beverly Hills Library, and it’s fun to walk up and down and see what’s fresh and seasonal. The kids love the free samples! The market sells everything from organic fruits and vegetables, fresh seafood and bakery items, freshly laid eggs, to gorgeous orchids and garden plants at amazingly low prices.
There is always plenty to eat too – homemade sausages, Mexican and Middle Eastern food, and fresh-popped popcorn that manages to be both sweet and salty. I always give the kids a little time in the petting zoo – they like the miniature pot-bellied pig – then we head over to the library. Usually they have a Farmers Market story time and if we miss it, I sit down on the floor and read books to the twins. The perfect end to a beautiful morning!
