On the first day of the Chinese New Year, The Peninsula Hong Kong welcomes a troupe of nine lions and one dragon to celebrate one of the most dazzling and time-honoured Chinese New Year traditions. For the very first time, the Grande Dame is taking the spectacle to the next level with an enhanced ritual by tailoring special elements including three exclusive Peninsula red and gold lions, featuring the depiction of the Chinese character of the hotel’s name on the back of the creatures’ heads, customised drum sets and flags to spread maximal happiness and prosperity.  As a nod to the culture of the company’s Chinese roots and the location of its flagship property, it has become customary for a lion and dragon dance to be performed at the openings of other Peninsula properties around the world.
