The Peninsula New York
As excitement builds for Broadway's re-opening, The Peninsula New York announces an exclusive new partnership with Shakespeare's MACBETH which opens April 28, 2022. The Peninsula New York offers theatre-goers access to sold-out tickets with weekend theatre packages throughout the run until July 10, 2022. Alongside this, the hotel is proud to be Official Hotel Sponsor of MACBETH 2022, a program to provide students with an exceptional opportunity to see a world-class Broadway production of one of Shakespeare's greatest plays.
About MACBETH – Shakespeare's haunting drama comes to New York
This world premiere production of Shakespeare's heart-racing drama MACBETH, features DANIEL CRAIG (No Time to Die, A Steady Rain) making his much-anticipated return to Broadway alongside RUTH NEGGA (Passing, Hamlet), making her Broadway debut directed by Tony Award® winner SAM GOLD (Hamlet, Othello, Fun Home).
A dramatic tale of malice, matrimony and murder, MACBETH tells the story of one couple's obsession with power—and their guilt after doing the unthinkable. For 15 weeks only, this thrilling new production will capture the passion and ferocity of Shakespeare's most haunting text like never before.
MACBETH 2022
The Peninsula New York is proud to be the Official Hotel Sponsor of MACBETH 2022, an innovative sponsored-ticket initiative that will provide the opportunity for students from underserved communities in the New York City area to see a world-class production of one of Shakespeare's greatest plays.
In partnership with major theatre and education organizations, this program will reach high school and college students who traditionally have been underrepresented on Broadway stages and in Broadway audiences – specifically those from BIPOC communities, first-generation college students and people with disabilities. For some of these young people, MACBETH will be their first Broadway show.
Over 2,000 fully funded tickets will be supported throughout the 15-week run at the Longacre Theatre, eliminating the financial barrier to entry for students from these communities. Representation on stage and the opportunity to attend live theatre are equally important to nurturing and developing new audiences.
"The Peninsula New York's proximity to Broadway and our connection to the many creative communities of the city have always resonated strongly with our guests.” said Rolf Buehlmann, General Manager of The Peninsula New York. “We're absolutely delighted to be supporting the resurgence of our city's performing arts offering, and helping to welcome New Yorkers from a variety of backgrounds to experience the transformational power of Shakespeare."
