The Peninsula Paris Invites Guests to Celebrate the Holidays with Festive Events and Experiences

Charity fundraising, holiday menus, storytelling, and more highlight the spirit of the season

To fully embrace the holiday spirit of caring and connection, guests can also take part in The Peninsula Hotels’ long-standing corporate responsibility and sustainability initiative to support youth in need during this season of giving. 

Celebrating Togetherness
In these challenging times, celebrating the holidays with friends and family feels especially meaningful – and The Peninsula Hotels’ enchanting, time-honoured festive traditions allow guests to truly savour the season and create precious memories together. The array of experiences includes sumptuous holiday brunches, delectable festive menus, celebratory cocktails, storytelling sessions featuring The Peninsula Hotels’ holiday storybook for children, signature festive hampers, and body-and-mind healing treatments. All of these are offered in an environment that lets guests relax and reconnect for the holidays, safely and joyfully. 

Stories from the Tree
In keeping with tradition, Peninsula hotels around the world will illuminate a giant, splendidly decorated Christmas tree. This dazzling display will be the focal point for “Stories from the Tree”, a Peninsula tradition since 2018. Six colourful characters, including the Nutcracker, Gingerbread Man, Robin, and Reindeer will adorn Christmas trees as well as the festive decorations.

Digital Storybook and Children’s Storytelling
Each year, a different “Stories from the Tree” character is highlighted with a specially written children’s story. This year, the protagonist of the story, The Robin’s Journey, is the red-breasted Robin, who travels around the world to experience a variety of holiday adventures and highlights the spirit of kindness and giving. The Peninsula Paris will offer a festive storytelling event for guests and their families, featuring a live reading of The Robin’s Journey. The story will also be available as a complimentary e-book download on peninsula.com starting in November – along with previous years’ stories, The Gingerbread Man’s Tale and The Nutcracker’s Adventure.

A Season of Giving
As well as a time for celebration with loved ones, the holidays are a time of sharing and generosity. In that spirit, The Peninsula Hotels is continuing its custom of reaching out to those who are less fortunate. At The Peninsula Paris, “Stories from the Tree” character Robin will be available for purchase in the form of ornaments and pins; 5 Euros from each purchase will be donated to Les Apprentis d’Auteuil, a local charitable organisation that supports youth empowerment. An additional 5 Euros will be donated to the same charity from each sale of the Festive Afternoon Tea, which includes savoury delicacies and delightful sweets featuring the Robin character and traditional Christmas favourites.

Exquisite Yule Log from Executive Chef David Bizet
Well-versed in creating transcendent and delectable works of culinary art from even the simplest traditional recipes, The Peninsula Paris’s Michelin-starred Executive Chef, David Bizet, will mark the season by revisiting the most iconic of French holiday desserts: La Bûche de Noël.

It was a family walk on the Normandy coast that first prompted the chef to reimagine the classic Yule log cake using unexpected ingredients. Inspired by the seaside environment, he devised his version of the cake incorporating hints of oceanic saltiness – which are typically found in savoury dishes, but rarely in sweet creations.

Chef Bizet’s interpretation of the Yule log, La Bûche, will amaze diners with its originality and its deliciousness. La Bûche is made with a crispy base of grilled vanilla and roasted buckwheat, a soft biscuit, and a vanilla-white chocolate ganache. Inside this creation, however, is a salty-sweet surprise that is sure to delight: A creamy heart infused with the flavours of kiwi and caviar. 

“With this recipe I have tried to represent the cherished dream that Christmas animates in each of us,” said Chef Bizet, “but in a way that offers a unique and unconventional taste experience. By bringing together these unusual flavours, my aim was to also harmonise the elements of inventiveness and tradition.”
Enticing and extraordinary, La Bûche can be enjoyed in the restaurants of The Peninsula Paris from 18 December 2020 to 1 January 2021.

A Magical Holiday Haven; Sumptuous Festive Meals
In celebration of the holiday season, The Peninsula Paris’s chic alfresco restaurant, Terrasse Kléber, will be transformed into an enchanted winter forest. Amid trees adorned with lights and glittering decorations, a pair of charming chalets will serve up sweet and savoury Christmas treats throughout the month of December.

The restaurants at The Peninsula Paris will also offer a series of extravagant festive meals where guests and their loved ones can ring in the holidays. These include sumptuous brunches served on 25 and 27 December 2020, and 1 and 3 January 2021; a splendid Christmas Eve dinner featuring live piano tunes; and a New Year’s Eve dinner where diners can toast the coming year accompanied by joyful live music.
