At The Peninsula Shanghai, integrating with the local community is an integral part of the hotel’s sustainability vision. The hotel has long dedicated itself to corporate responsibility and sustainability while encouraging Peninsula family members to become involved. The hotel aims to uplift the socially disadvantaged communities through various initiatives, including charitable fundraising events and outreach activities, advocating responsible and healthy living, mindfulness of natural resources and more.
In 2020, the hotel launched a charitable meal-for-meal programme as part of the ‘We Meet Again in Shanghai’ campaign, a meal is donated to nourish local underserved community for each cover who dine at Yi Long Court and The Lobby.
Between March and July 2021, the hotel partnered with Food Bank Shanghai to lead monthly distribution drives where Peninsula staff volunteer with the preparation, packing and distribution of food packages to 1,500 families in Shanghai.
Jisoo Chon, General Manager of The Peninsula Shanghai, said: "The Peninsula Shanghai is very grateful for the public's support of our establishment. We continue our grassroot initiatives for the local communities, as well as actively encouraging and promoting a range of socially responsible activities aimed at protecting people’s livelihoods and ensuring the health of this great city we call home. This programme is of great significance to the hotel as it provides a basic human need, food, for those who need it most.”
The Peninsula Shanghai will continue timelessly to give back the community by spreading love and care.
