Follow the remains of ‘old Istanbul’ through the lens of Ara Güler, the late Armenian and Turkish photojournalist better known as the Eye of Istanbul. One of Turkey’s few internationally known photographers, Güler spent most of his days strolling along traditional neighborhoods and his black-and-white photographs of Istanbul are still considered his best work.
On this day, you will walk through some of his favorite routes in Vefa and Ayvansaray; a traditional fisherman’s boat will take you along the shores of the Golden Horn. There will be photo shoots at parts of Istanbul, reminiscent of a past that has resisted change. The shores of Golden Horn offer photographic opportunities full of nostalgia.
