Contemporary art takes centre stage at The Peninsula Hong Kong this spring as the city’s Grande Dame celebrates Arts Month. As the official hotel partner of Art Basel Hong Kong, The Peninsula Hotels is launching its Art in Resonance programme on 26 March 2019, a multi-year global initiative that will see the hotel playing host to newly commissioned, immersive installations by contemporary artists.
From 26 March until 21 June 2019, guests can enjoy installations by Janet Echelman, whose piece will float over the historical frame of the hotel; Timothy Paul Myers, whose inspired piece, situated in the hotel’s lobby, aims to provoke personal memories; Iván Navarro, whose interplay of space and light encourages its audience to reimagine the concept of ‘home’ in this magnificent hotel that has been Hong Kong’s home for more than 90 years; while MINAX’s architectural creation, an intriguing space to inspire and enchant, will serve as a unique dining venue for the Zen-inspired set menu.
This experimental culinary odyssey will be available from 27 March to 21 June 2019 at HK$2,888 + 10 % service charge per person. Booking is required with at least 24-hour notice in advance for a minimum two people with a maximum for four. For reservations, please call +852 2696 6693 or email diningphk@peninsula.com.
Guests will have the opportunity to experience Felix, the hotel’s restaurant on the 28th floor, after touring and appreciating the artistic creations, where Chef de Cuisine Juan Gomez has designed the beguiling Felix Five Senses Art Experience. The menu is designed to give pleasure to the five senses of taste, sight, touch, sound and smell, with liberal doses of playfulness against the backdrop of the stunning Victoria Harbour.
The sensational experience starts with Semi-dried tomatoes and almond vanish ravioli with Jerusalem artichoke cream and Parmesan sable to stimulate the guests’ senses through the contrasting colours of white artichoke cream and red semi-dried tomatoes. The gastronomic delights continue with the dessert, designed to further enliven the senses through a delicate balance between crispness and smoothness in the trio of White chocolate textures, whiskey chocolate ganache and verbena sorbet.
Priced at HK$ 1,288 + 10% service charge per person, The Felix Five Senses Art Experience is available for a minimum of two people from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm daily from 19 March to 30 May 2019. For reservations, please call +852 2920 6778 or email diningphk@peninsula.com.
For those who wish to further submerge themselves in the artistic conversation and cultural context of the city of Hong Kong during Arts Month, The Peninsula Hong Kong will offer the “Art of Luxury” room package from 23 March to 1 April 2019. The offer includes 10% off the best available rate – including daily breakfast for two – when two or more nights are reserved via The Peninsula’s website. A private guided art tour is available upon request for guests who wish to have a more intimate interaction and connection with the Art in Resonance installations during their stay.
