Two Legends Join Hands to Create a Luxurious and Quintessentially Hong Kong Offering

The Peninsula Hong Kong, which for 95 years has been renowned as the city’s iconic and elegant Grande Dame, has announced a new collaborative venture with another one of Hong Kong’s most venerable and cherished icons: the 125-year-old Star Ferry. In celebration of both legends’ significant anniversaries this year, guests will be able to enjoy a collection of exclusive and refined experiences aboard the World Star – a beautifully appointed Star Ferry that plies the waters of Victoria Harbour.
Between 31 March and 2 July 2023, a trio of special water journeys aboard the World Star will be available to guests of The Peninsula Hong Kong, with advance reservations. These include signature Peninsula Afternoon Teas, Sunset Soirée Cruises, and – for couples wishing to exchange their vows floating in the South China Sea – spectacular wedding journeys.  

The Peninsula Afternoon Tea on the Harbour
On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 31 March to 2 July 2023, The Peninsula Hong Kong guests can choose from two splendid venues for enjoying the hotel’s traditional Afternoon Tea: its customary home at The Lobby restaurant, or aboard the lavishly outfitted World Star, where they will be treated to an array of sweet and savoury bites, live music, and stunning views between 2:30 pm and 4:15 pm. 

A special menu has been created for guests partaking in The Peninsula Afternoon Tea on the Harbour, including savouries such as Tuna Niçoise on focaccia; Green asparagus and cheddar quiche; Beef pastrami with gherkins, and Classic cucumber sandwiches. Sweet treats will include Citrus jelly and vanilla cheesecake; Apple, cinnamon and caramel tartlets; Mont-Blanc chocolate cream on a sesame biscuit; and The Peninsula’s famed raisin scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. A selection of proprietary Peninsula teas tops off the delightful culinary voyage. Priced at HK$ 650* per person.

Sunset Soirée Cruise
During the three-month Star Ferry partnership, The Peninsula Hong Kong guests can join an elegant floating cocktail party each weekend evening beginning at 5:30 pm. The Sunset Soirée Cruise hosted aboard the World Star, will bring them on a magnificent two-hour voyage through Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui Pier to Ting Kau Bridge, taking in waterfront gems like the West Kowloon Cultural District and Stonecutters Island. 

During the cruise, guests can indulge in delicious canapés such as Snow crab roulade with yuzu cream; Seared tuna loin with salmon caviar; Serrano ham with fig chutney; and Mini cheesecakes prepared by The Peninsula’s acclaimed culinary team. Guests can also enjoy creative libations crafted by the hotel’s skilful mixology team, live DJ music, and picture-perfect photo opportunities in the glow of the setting sun. Priced at HK$ 850* per person, including canapés, and two hours of free-flowing artisan and classic cocktails; HK$ 100* per person for additional Champagne.

“Harmony on the Harbour” Wedding Journey 
The Peninsula is the first hotel in Hong Kong to offer wedding experiences in partnership with Star Ferry. For each couple wishing to tie the knot in sumptuous Peninsula style aboard the World Star, the hotel’s wedding specialists and culinary team will work together to create a personalised and unforgettable special day. 

Priced at HK$ 208,000*, the “Harmony on the Harbour” Wedding Journey accommodates up to 80 guests and includes:

A History of Distinctive Transport 
Since its inception, The Peninsula Hong Kong has embraced fine luxury transport as an integral part of its guest experience. In its earliest days, the hotel hosted its own on-property Studebaker dealership and showroom; since 1970, when it made history for placing the largest-ever single order for Rolls-Royce motorcars (seven Silver Shadows), the property – and The Peninsula Hotels – has maintained a robust partnership with the renowned British auto maker. In 2006, The Peninsula Hong Kong became the proud owner of a bespoke fleet of 14 Rolls-Royce Extended Wheelbase Phantoms, all finished in signature Peninsula Green.
