The Peninsula Paris
The iconic Avenue Kléber hotel reopens its sumptuous terraces – the perfect venues for savouring summer’s balmy days and nights
The City of Light’s magic seems even more enchanting during the warm days and sultry evenings of summer. And at The Peninsula Paris, the city’ most legendary palace hotel, guests can enjoy the season’s golden sun and garden blooms from a variety of dazzling outdoor spaces. This summer, the hotel invites both visitors and Parisian locals to gather at these magnificent terraces – whether for open-air wine-sipping, dining beneath the stars, or private, breath-taking views over Paris.
A Secret Garden on Le Rooftop
On the roof of The Peninsula Paris, this incomparably romantic terrace sits nestled amid a profusion of blooming, fragrant rosebushes. From its tables and lounge areas, Le Rooftop offers superlative views of the most beautiful monuments of the capital, from the Eiffel Tower to the Sacré Cœur.
The scent of roses perfumes not only the air at Le Rooftop, but the culinary offerings as well. Diners here can sample small-plate dishes from Michelin-starred chef David Bizet like octopus carpaccio with fresh rose and black garlic; the dessert offerings from award-winning pastry chef Anne Coruble include a raspberry pavlova with fresh almonds and rose.
The cocktail menu at Le Rooftop also takes inspiration from the garden. With names like Dahlia, Begonia, and Peony, these libations feature bright flavours – made with fresh herbs, fruits, and spices – that embody the bounty of summer. The terrace will also debut a new signature cocktail for this season, La Vie en Rose – a blend of gin with vine-ripened peach, rosé wine from Provence, rosewater, and kombucha with blackcurrant leaves.
This summer, Le Rooftop invites guests on a special gustatory journey, to discover the exquisite wines of Maison CHANEL. Three of the Bordeaux and Provence regions’ most venerable wineries, which have been owned by the emblematic French fashion house for almost 30 years, will be featured at Le Rooftop through the season – with wines by the bottle, and also as pairings for the dishes of Chef David Bizet.
One of these historic wine estates, the Domaine de l'Île, set on the Provençal island of Porquerolles, is famous for its vibrant rosés and whites. Another, Château Rauzan-Ségla, located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, creates sophisticated reds in the finest Bordeaux tradition. Another Bordeaux representation is Château Canon, one of the most distinguished and celebrated producers of Saint-Émilion.
Together, Chef Bizet and The Peninsula Paris’s Head Sommelier, Florent Martin, have curated a list of culinary pairings that highlight these wines. Diners will find, for instance, that the velvety vintages of Château Rauzan-Ségla harmonise delicately with aioli of Mediterranean vegetables, while the minerality of the Château Canon wines perfectly complements the prawn tempura with smoked peppers. The salinity and bright citrus notes of wines from the Domaine de l'Île, meanwhile, pair marvellously with Chef Bizet’s octopus carpaccio.
The wines of Maison CHANEL will be featured at Le Rooftop throughout the summer season.
Paris’s Most Romantic Rendezvous Spot, the Secret Table
Guests seeking a supremely romantic venue for private dining will find it at The Peninsula Paris’s singular Secret Table. Set at the hotel’s highest point, this intimate terrace just for two provides an unforgettable setting for special meals overlooking the Eiffel Tower – in the sparkling sun or under the stars.
Just for Secret Table diners, Chef David Bizet has created two distinctive menus: Le Grand Voyage, a six-course option; or L'Odyssée, with seven courses. Both feature the finest seasonal ingredients, and are inspired by the gourmet tasting menus Chef Bizet has devised for the hotel’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant, L'Oiseau Blanc.
Further enhancing the magical environment and refined cuisine, couples at the Secret Table will also be welcomed with fine Champagne, and wine pairings offered by Head Sommelier Florent Martin. A dedicated butler also provides superbly attentive personal service throughout the meal.
A Taste of Provence at La Terrasse Kléber
Paris’s largest and most lavish enclosed terrace, La Terrasse Kléber is a spectacular destination any time of day – whether for breakfast overlooking the bustle of Avenue Kléber, classic Peninsula Afternoon Tea, or a leisurely dinner or nightcap. This summer, guests will find a new enticement of enjoying two splendid new rosé vintages from the nearly-century-old winery Sainte Marguerite en Provence.
Created in 1929 on ancient lands dedicated to wine cultivation since the Roman occupation, Sainte Marguerite en Provence today creates organic wines whose flavours exemplify the renowned minerality, floral and citrus notes of the Côtes de Provence. Two of the wine estate’s evocatively named cuvée rosés will be available this summer at La Terrasse Kléber: Symphonie and Fantastique (Cru Classé Côtes-de-Provence). These refreshing, vibrant wines are both easily paired with the terrace’s variety of culinary options – from LiLi’s creative Cantonese dishes to Le Lobby’s classic French cuisine – and equally delightful to sip all by themselves.
The Private Edens of the Rooftop Garden Suites
Located on the 6th and top floor of The Peninsula Paris, the four Rooftop Garden Suites offer some of the most magnificent private accommodations in the city. Each of these luxurious, light-filled suites is graced with its own terrace for lounging and dining, offering dazzling views over the city rooftops, as well as iconic Paris landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
