One of the hotel’s most highly anticipated annual traditions, the Peninsula’s Mooncakes are a fusion of heritage and innovation, and a symbol of the institution’s philosophy of food. This year’s flavour selection will include a quartet of delicious flavours: the traditional Yi Long Court Egg Custard Mooncake, created according to The Peninsula’s unique recipe; the Yi Long Court Black Truffle Egg Custard Mooncake, a savoury sensation launched in 2019, showcasing the intense earthiness and wonderful depth of flavours of Italian black truffle, perfectly paired with creamy egg custard, now back by popular demand. This year’s unique mooncake flavour references one of China’s most iconic liquors - Moutai. Paired with a delicate coffee custard, Yi Long Court Moutai & Coffee Mooncake is perfectly balanced and wonderfully satisfying. Presented in this year’s exclusive Mid-Autumn packaging, these mooncakes are perfect for gifting. The fourth confection is the exciting new Yi Long Court Heart-shaped Chocolate & Coffee Mooncake, which are filled with a rich Valrhona chocolate-flavoured egg custard that oozes lusciously when cut. The perfect partner for coffee, these mooncakes provide a touch of warmth and sweetness for those who enjoy them.
All mooncakes are crafted by the award-winning Peninsula culinary team in limited batches to preserve quality and freshness. Each year, the team works tirelessly to develop new and exciting mooncake flavours to add a sense of joy and anticipation.
While The Peninsula Shanghai House-made Mooncakes will be available for purchase at the mooncake booth in The Lobby and at The Peninsula Boutique, and will also once again be available for purchase on WeChat’s mini-programme from 26 July, 2021, where the online purchase platform provides a seamless Peninsula shopping experience to the customers. From 26 to 28 July, a 10% early-bird discount will be available for any order of House-made Mini Egg Custard Mooncakes when playing an exclusive WeChat mini game.
