The Peninsula Hotels has been known as a joyfully welcoming second home for generations during the holidays. At this special time of year, travellers from around the world converge at the legendary hotels to take part in their array of celebratory feasts, performances, activities, and opportunities to create extraordinary memories together.

This year, the festive experiences offered at The Peninsula Hotels will centre around traditional holiday pleasures: Lighting the beautifully decorated Lobby Christmas tree; gathering around it to enjoy enchanting music; and savouring lavish meals and delightful activities among family and loved ones. In keeping with both the holiday spirit and time-honoured Peninsula custom, each hotel, including The Peninsula Shanghai, will also give guests the chance to contribute to a special charity organization.

The Lobby

Kicking off the festive season, The Peninsula Shanghai will be adorned with dazzling Christmas lights and fabulous decorations creating the perfect festive atmosphere. Join us in The Lobby for the Caviar Festive Afternoon Tea (available from 26 November 2023, RMB 788* per person, RMB 1,388* for two persons) and experience the essence of the holiday season.

Make The Lobby your holiday dining destination for memorable dinners with friends and family. Indulge in a sumptuous, traditional six-course Christmas Eve Dinner including a glass of champagne, live performance and lucky draw (on 24 December, RMB 2,388* per adult and RMB 588* per child).

The Lobby will host its annual New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner  for guests to ring in the new year in style with a delectable seven-course gala dinner and a glass of champagne to toast the arrival of new year (on 31 December, RMB 2,388* per adult and RMB 688* per child). Entertainment will include a live performance and lucky draw.

Sir Elly’s

Sir Elly’s will offer a range of festive meals during the Christmas period, including a delectable six-course menu with a welcome glass of champagne on Christmas Eve (on 24 December, RMB 2,988* per adult and RMB 588* per child) or a five-course menu on Christmas Day (on 25 December, RMB 2,288* per adult and RMB 588* per child). Additionally, a special Festive Lunch will also be on offer during this enchanting season, which will include a variety of festive dishes to choose from and complemented by a delightful dessert buffet (from 26 November to 25 December, RMB 888* for three courses and RMB 688* for two courses, RMB 388* for dessert buffet). Join us for a New Year's Eve Party (entry ticket RMB 1,288 net per person and table from RMB 3,888 net) to ring in 2024 with live entertainment.

Yi Long Court

At The Peninsula Shanghai, the festivities continue at Michelin-starred restaurant Yi Long Court. Experience the Christmas Eve Dinner, featuring eight delightful courses and a glass of champagne (on 24 December, RMB 1,988* per adult and RMB 588* per child) with lucky draw, or savour their classic Cantonese à la carte menu on Christmas Day. To welcome the new year, Yi Long Court will offer an exquisite eight-course New Year's Eve Dinner (on 31 December, RMB 2,188* per adult and RMB 588* per child) including lucky draw.

The Compass Bar

From 26 November 2023, The Compass Bar will invite you to partake in the Caviar Festive Afternoon Tea (RMB 788* per person, RMB 1,388* per two persons) – a perfect way to enjoy the holiday season with friends and families.

Exquisite Gifts and Delicacies

At The Peninsula Boutique, a collection of curated specialty gift items let guests share holiday joy with their loved ones. These include indulgent gourmet hampers, signature Peninsula chocolates, children’s toys and beloved plush Pen Bears, and more. Additionally, Peninsula Gift Cards let recipients enjoy Peninsula experiences of their choice – including restaurant meals and revitalising treatments at The Peninsula Spa.

The Peninsula Shanghai will also offer a Christmas delicacy Galette des Rois - the French ‘King’s Pie’. A traditional confection served in France and Francophone cultures across the globe, the Galette des Rois has become a symbol of the Christmas period and a globally-renowned dessert. It is perfectly crafted with rum-spiked almond frangipane and perfectly golden pastry, a wonderful festive gift for friends and family.

Sharing the Spirit of the Season

For decades, The Peninsula Hotels has made special efforts during the festive season to support the less-fortunate members of its community. This year, US$5 from each sale of the Festive Afternoon Tea will be donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation Shanghai. Make-A-Wish has restored hope and joy to children with critical illnesses. A wish provides much-needed relief from the trauma caused by a such illnesses through a rejuvenating experience that can give a child a better chance of surviving and thriving.
