Step into the narrow streets of Tokyo lined with red lanterns and neon signs, so called yokocho alleys, where you will feel as if you have travelled back in time to the '70s of Japan. Within the exotic and retro ambiance of these traditional alleyways, izakaya bars frequented by locals dominate the food scene. In this Peninsula Academy program, guests will experience Tokyo’s bustling culinary underbelly on a Tokyo food tour around Yurakucho.
Starting off at The Peninsula, guests will receive a private 20-minute introduction to Japanese table manners. Your guide will then show you the sights, sounds, and most importantly, tastes of Tokyo most tourists do not get to experience. Walking you through Shimbashi via Ginza to the Yurakucho area, your guide will take you to five food stops, each showcasing a unique aspect of Japanese cuisine and local dining culture.
This 3-4 hour program is offered between 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, for parties of one to ten and must be booked three business days in advance. Guests under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
