The Peninsula Tokyo is delighted to introduce the newest addition to its collection of limited-edition original Peninsula whiskies: ‘The Peninsula Tokyo Single Malt Komagatake - Artist Collaboration Edition #3', in partnership with Muu Nanahoshi. Available from January 2024, the special edition whiskey is sold exclusively at Peter:The Bar.
Under the programme coordination of art producer Mika Lee, two internationally acclaimed artists will be selected each year to create a custom designed whiskey bottle according to their own style, inspired by the rich history and tradition of The Peninsula Hotels. The Peninsula Hotels has a deep commitment to supporting the contemporary arts. Through a myriad of initiatives and partnerships, the company enables access to artworks – by both esteemed and emerging artists – at The Peninsula properties around the world. Through these programmes and a range of bespoke experiences offered by each property, The Peninsula Hotels also provides a culturally rich, aesthetically stimulating environment that invites exploration of each hotel’s destination.
The first artist collaboration edition of The Peninsula Tokyo Single Malt Komagatake saw up-and-coming architect, stage designer, and artist Mr. Takumi Hasegawa designing the first four whiskey bottle artworks. The second artist collaborator was Satoru Aoyama, who employs the theme “Moments” for his handcrafted embroidery work for each whiskey bottle art, as an avenue to convey the ever-changing present and future moments of life and worldly events. As the third artist collaborator under this project, Muu Nanahoshi has exclusively created ten new works, depicting the Peninsula's iconic Peninsula Bear in white Page uniform and whisky while presenting her signature dreamy motifs, as well as applying the three-dimensional technique with a vibrant color palette.
