The Peninsula Chicago Announces the Return of 'Chocolate Bar at The Pen' for a Limited Time This Fall

The Peninsula Chicago is pleased to welcome the return of ‘Chocolate Bar at The Pen’ for a limited time: October 4th through November 23rd, 2024. Once well-known as Chicago’s premier “Chocolate Bar” offered in The Peninsula’s Lobby every Friday and Saturday evening from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, The Peninsula’s pastry team offers guests a veritable buffet feast of elegant bite-sized chocolate desserts and morsels, which provides that perfect indulgence following dinner. 'Chocolate Bar at The Pen' is accompanied by a piano entertainment.
The return engagement features several action stations including a Hot Chocolate Bomb Bar and a Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Station. Each chef action area features a unique selection of toppings such as Toffee Bits, Peanut Butter Chips, Pirouline Sticks for the Hot Chocolate Bomb, and Hazelnut Praline Grains, Coco Nibs, Dehydrated Raspberries and more for the Ice Cream options. Guests can truly customize each chocolate concoction.
The Chocolate Bar items vary weekly and include such items as Warm Chocolate Marble Pound Cake, S’mores Tart, White Chocolate Pistachio Cake, Strawberry Chocolate Cream Puff, Milk Chocolate Crème Brûlée, Vegan Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Hazelnut Rocher, assorted candy items feature Chocolate Pecan Toffee, Chocolate Barks and more.
‘Chocolate Bar at The Pen’ is US$ 65 per person, or US$ 40 per person with a dinner reservation in The Lobby or Shanghai Terrace. And US$ 35 per child under 12 years old, or US$ 20 per child with a dinner reservation at The Lobby or Shanghai Terrace. Tax, gratuity and beverages are additional.
History of ‘Chocolate Bar at The Pen’: This beloved tradition started in November 2003 by the then Lobby restaurant manager who wanted guests to linger after dinner and enjoy a unique experience. ‘The Chocolate Bar at The Pen’ was born! Entertainment was added as well as a dance floor. It became an attractive experience for girlfriends’ night out, first dates, couples looking for a nightcap and a sweet treat following a wedding or a gala. It was especially appealing to people to try so many unique one- and two-bite size delicious desserts. ‘Chocolate Bar at The Pen went on hiatus in early 2020. The pastry team at The Peninsula Chicago is delighted to bring this tradition back to dedicated fans for a two-month pop-up experience.
Dinner is served nightly from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ‘Chocolate Bar at The Pen’ is available Friday and Saturday from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm (the last reservation is taken at 9:30 pm to allow ample time to enjoy ‘Chocolate Bar at The Pen’).
