As the Grande Dame celebrates her 95th year in operation, the 2023 holiday season at The Peninsula Hong Kong began in breathtaking style on 23 November with a heart-warming Festive Concert – an enchanting story of a young boy's adventure on The Peninsula Express to find the true meaning of Christmas was told through joyous melodies, songs and dance, and a lively rendition of this year’s story: “An Enchanting Journey Continues – Aboard The Peninsula Express”. The music and dance extravaganza, which took over 200 guests aboard The Peninsula Express from the Grand Salisbury Station to travel the new Peninsula destinations of London and Istanbul, returning to Hong Kong with surprise celebrity appearances of Hong Kong-based celebrity singers Terence Lam and Sally Yeh, wrapping up the performance with notable festive songs. 

Following the musical performance was The Peninsula’s time-honoured Tree Lighting tradition, officiated by Mr. Joseph W.Y. Chong, Regional Vice President, Asia of The Peninsula Hotels and Managing Director of The Peninsula Hong Kong, and Mr. Kevin Tsang, Hotel Manager of The Peninsula Hong Kong, illuminating the hotel’s enormous, beautifully decorated lobby Christmas tree. The Peninsula Hotels’ Group Executive Chef Florian Trento also presented The Peninsula festive tradition, Christmas pudding flambé, to bring all attendees to the next highlight of the night. Guests continued the evening with a sumptuous feast specially curated by the hotel’s acclaimed culinary team featuring festive delights from the Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Spring Moon, Alpine Swiss chalet Chesa, continental buffet at The Verandah and authentic Japanese restaurant Imasa.

All Aboard The Peninsula Express
This season, the beloved train set and miniature Alpine village set up outside The Verandah restaurant will come to dazzling life with the installation of a full-sized train platform, Grand Salisbury Station, on the hotel’s first floor. Guests can board an exquisite Peninsula Express train carriage, with its exterior painted in signature Peninsula Green and its elegant wood-panelled interior; and embark on an exclusive culinary journey in an Alpine setting.
