The childhood dreams Jason expressed in building blocks on his bedroom floor, may seem a far cry from the complexities of his most recent brief; to help design the finest hotel to ever sit on the line where East meets West. However, the role imagination played those decades ago, remains at the heart of his process. These days, inspiration and observation synthesize with creativity, turning the surroundings in which he’s immersed into a key player in Jason’s theatre of design.

Istanbul, with its incredible chronology, boasts many diverse and powerful influencing cultures and events. And the cityscape, straddling the Bosphorus, enthusiastically reflects its long and magnificent history. For Jason, this rich source of stimulation informs and influences every aspect of transforming a complex practical environment, into an intuitive and pleasurable environment.

His understanding of the elements required to create a feeling of home and bond with one’s surroundings, developed early on. Whilst at school in Seattle, Jason embarked on a long and successful career as a gymnastic athlete. Life on the road, competing across the United States, meant many nights spent in hotels, those teenage years forming a vision of how to turn a place where you spend the night, into a destination you seek for escape and relaxation.

The streets, the bazaars, the minarets, the rivers, the excitement; every fiber of Istanbul provides a complex and colorful palette for Jason.
