Nancy Yiu
Duty manager - Front office
Understanding the value of community was instilled in Nancy at an early age. As a child, she passed her free time volunteering alongside her mother, an activity that has sustained to this day. Weekends and evenings were spent in the community, her mum introducing her to those less fortunate than themselves, sharing burdens, and giving support wherever possible. The combination of characteristics Nancy saw in her mum, compassionate, industrious, fair, struck a chord and set a standard she knew she must emulate.
This hard-working, caring nature, alongside her desire to assist, led Nancy quite naturally into the world of hospitality. Classical training in Switzerland was followed by a spell working in the Middle East. However, Hong Kong was calling. The sense of community and inclusion Nancy had enjoyed in her childhood and youth, was missing from life overseas. Eventually, she returned to family, friends, and The Peninsula; her reconnection rewarding her with a fresh appreciation for her locale. Alongside Sunday’s spent walking dogs for her local animal shelter, weekly lunches with friends at their favourite cha chaan teng, and assisting local charities; Nancy cherishes the opportunities The Peninsula offers to share her Hong Kong with visitors.
